Silk was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of Peter, an academic, as well as Ilkay Silk, a prominent actress, director, producer, educator, playwright and director of drama at St. Thomas University. Anna recounts some of her earliest memories of life when she went to watch her mother's performance during play rehearsals. Silk appeared in several commercials as a child.
